Heavy rainfall is expected to begin early Monday afternoon around Shaunavon, Maple Creek and Cypress Hills.
According to Environment Canada, the rainfall warning means between 25 and 75 millimetres, or up to three inches, could fall throughout the day and into Tuesday.
Terri Lang, a meteorologist Environment Canada, said it will be a fairly sizable system weather system coming down across the prairies.
“It’s really needed,” Lang said. “It’s not a drought buster, it’s a drought denter.
“It will put a dent in some of those big moisture deficits that we have had for so long.”
Lang said 50 to 75 mm of rain could fall over the next few days on the southwest corner of the province.
Regina and Saskatoon should see around 20 mm.
“It’s probably one of the heavier rainfalls that we have had in the past couple of years,” Lang said. “We didn’t have anything like this last Spring.”
The weather organization said flash floods are possible, along with dangerous driving conditions due to reduced visibility.

Last week, the first day of May brought a snowfall warning for that corner of the province.
Environment Canada said Maple Creek and Cypress Hills Provincial Park would see snowfall amounts up to 15 centimetres as part of a low pressure system bringing moisture to a large chunk of Saskatchewan.
