A 49-year-old man from La Loche is being charged after a death and fire in La Loche early Wednesday morning.
RCMP said they were called out about a fight in a home around 2:30 a.m.
When officers arrived, RCMP said they could see smoke and flames coming from the building. When they got inside, the officers found two people who were hurt – a 52-year old woman and an 81-year old man.
The man and woman were both taken to hospital and fire departments from La Loche and Clearwater River Dene Nation put out the fire.
The woman, Brenda Toulejour, died in hospital and the man was sent to hospital in Saskatoon with serious injuries.
Now, police say Marty Keith Toulejour has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, and arson.
Editor’s Note: This story has been updated to amend the age of the man found in the home, following a correction issued by the Saskatchewan RCMP.
