Regina Public Schools has a new director of education and CEO.
According to the division, Mark Haarmann, a lecturer in education at Western University, will bring 30 years of experience in education in Ontario to the role when he takes over on August 1.
He’ll replace Darren Boldt, who is retiring after more than 30 years with Regina Public Schools.
Sarah Cummings Truszkowski, who chairs the division’s board, said she’s excited to welcome Haarmann to his new role.
“The Board is confident that his strategic leadership and management strengths will serve our students, staff, and communities well,” Cummings Truszkowski said in a statement.
“We look forward to working with Mark on the key Board priorities outlined in our Strategic Plan, including Indigenous education, diversity and inclusion, and advocacy for public education.”
Haarmann said he’s grateful for the opportunity, and has already set some goals for himself.
“My goal is to offer unwavering support to all board stakeholders as we collectively impact the lives of our learners. I am here to contribute to the everyday excellence in our schools, classrooms, and board sites,” Haarmann said in a statement.
“My commitment is to collaborate with Regina’s dedicated Trustees, skilled educators and employees, caring families and community supports to continue to provide equitable, inclusive, and safe environments for learning and working. I very much look forward to being a part of the future of this outstanding Division.”
