The Kramer IMAX Theatre at the Saskatchewan Science Centre in Regina is now the hot spot for audiences to see this summer’s biggest films.
Ryan Holota, the science centre’s COO, told the Greg Morgan Morning show that it’s a much different experience to see films on the IMAX screen, which is 50 feet tall and 70 feet wide, while audio is blasted through a 12-channel surround- sound system.
“(It’s) a really immersive movie experience compared to a lot of other movie theatres,” he said.
Holota said he’s enthusiastic to share this summer’s biggest blockbusters with audiences.
“We are so excited to be showing ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ at the end of July,” he said. “Deadpool is from Regina originally – we all know that – so we are kinda Deadpool’s home IMAX theatre.”
The film will be shown in both 3D and traditional formats, he added.
Holota said that the addition of fan-favourite and new films at the IMAX theatre has helped the Saskatchewan Science Centre immensely. Last year, a run of ‘Oppenheimer’ at the theatre was extended several times due to high demand.
“It’s been much better, we’re busier. People have been coming back more often, which is really great. I think it’s those return visits that really make a big difference for us,” Holota said.
“It also helps that we have the best movie theatre in the province. If you want to see a movie, there is no better way to see it than in IMAX.”
The Kramer Theatre is the only IMAX theatre in Saskatchewan and one of the last 3D IMAX 15/70mm theatres in existence.
Tickets can be found at the Kramer IMAX Theatre at the Saskatchewan Science Centre or online.
