The Regina German Club was feeling the heat after discovering that parts of their air conditioner had been stolen.
On June 5, the club went to social media to express heartbreak after finding out its new AC unit had been stripped for parts. Club manager Kerri Van Loosen said copper and other valuable metals were stolen from the unit.
But now the story has a heartwarming update, as Regina Plumbing & Heating has donated a brand new AC unit to the German Club.
Van Loosen expressed gratitude for the new unit and shared that Regina Plumbing & Heating has always been a big part of the club.
“They’ve been really good supporters of the club and they both have German descent,” Van Loosen said. “They see what we do around there, and they really want to make sure that we can keep on going ahead without too many more issues.”
A GoFundMe page has been launched by the club, encouraging the community to help cover the costs related to installing the new air conditioner.
Andrea MacLeod, a member of the board of directors at the Regina German Club, shared why they are in need of the extra support.
“We have learned that we will be requiring additional ducting and sheet metal work, which we did not anticipate,” MacLeod said. “As such, we have set up this fundraiser to help cover the costs of that work.”
But despite the air conditioning issues, the club is still very excited about all the events it will be hosting this summer. On June 22, the Regina German Club will host a free event to celebrate this year’s summer solstice.
