Police in Saskatoon shot and killed a 27-year-old man on Thursday morning after what police described as a “confrontation.”
According to police, officers were called to Avenue V South and 20th Street West at around 10:40 a.m. after getting a report about an armed man.
“Upon arrival to the area, officers located the suspect in the 200 block of Avenue S South; following a confrontation with police, officers discharged their service-issued firearms,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.

“The 27-year-old male suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.”
Police did not say whether the man was armed at the time of his death.
The shooting is under investigation by the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team, which opens a case whenever a person is seriously injured or killed by police in the province.
