Break out the umbrella – rainfall warnings are in effect for much of central Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada issued the warnings Thursday morning for areas in and around Saskatoon, Kindersley and Humbolt. Meteorologist Rose Carlsen said the rain will likely start to fall on Thursday evening and continue through the day on Friday.
In Saskatoon, up to 40 millimetres – or one-and-a-half inches – of rain is expected to fall Thursday evening, with up to another 15mm – or just over half an inch – likely to fall on Friday.

General rainfall amounts will total 40 to 60mm, Environment Canada noted, but some areas in the province could see heavier bursts of rain with up up to 80mm of precipitation.
While Regina is not included in the rainfall warning, the Queen City can expect up to 30mm of rain to fall on Thursday evening.
Carlsen said there is a possibility the warning could be extended into the Regina area.
“It is tough to say right now. The system is quite dynamic. It might need to be adjusted, but it might already be fully captured by now,” Carlsen said.
“These warnings might be extended as the event goes on, but that is where we have it up for right now.”
Carlsen says conditions should begin to improve as the system pulls out of the area Friday night.
She said the weather system rolling in is also bringing a risk of thunderstorms closer to the southern border. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
