Canada Day celebrations might be on hold in Southern Saskatchewan, as Environment Canada issued warnings and watches for severe thunderstorms in several areas.
A tornado warning was issued just after 5 p.m. for areas just east of Yorkton, though that warning ended later in the evening. Meanwhile, a funnel cloud advisory was issued in the southwestern corner of the province, including Swift Current and Maple Creek.
The entire southeastern corner of the province was under warnings or watches for severe thunderstorms on Monday evening. Quarter-sized hail could be possible, Environment Canada warned.
The Northern Tornadoes Project confirmed that six tornadoes formed during storms on June 12 in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
The latest on the weather alerts can be found on Environment Canada’s website.
