Police in Regina are asking the public for help identifying a man allegedly responsible for a serious assault on Friday night.
According to police, officers were called to Fifth Avenue just after 11 p.m. Friday for a report that a person was assaulted “with a large bladed weapon and had suffered a severe injury as a result.”
Officers applied tourniquets to the victim’s arms, police said, and he was taken to hospital by paramedics. Despite the use of tourniquets – tight bands applied around a limb to prevent a victim from bleeding to death – police said the victim’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police are now looking for the suspect, an Indigenous man between 25 and 35 years old, with a medium build and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, black shoes and a black hat.
“Anyone who can identify this male or can assist in this investigation is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Regina Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477),” police said.
