On Monday afternoon, police confirmed the objects in mailboxes were “modified fireworks.” They also found two more devices. All the affected mailboxes were found east of Saskatoon between Highway #16 and #5 in the RM’s of Blucher and Corman Park.
The original report was made on Sunday when several mailboxes near Sunset Estates in the RM of Blucher were broken into and suspicious objects were left inside them, according to Saskatoon RCMP.
One of the mailboxes was damaged by an explosive device.
The second report RCMP received Monday morning just before 10 a.m. about an explosive device inside a mailbox on Rural Road 3040, in the RM of Corman Park.

“Seven explosive devices were placed in mailboxes in the area,” the RCMP said in a statement. “Six of them detonated, damaging the mailboxes.”
No injuries have been reported.
The Mounties asked that residents not handle any suspicious or unknown devices found in mailboxes. Anyone who finds a suspicious device or had information about these incidents was asked to call Saskatoon RCMP at 310-RCMP.
