With the recent heat, many people are spending the day on the golf course.
Saskatchewan’s first and oldest golf club is filled with golfers, after the cool and wet June, brought a slow start to the season.
Ryan Pollock is the General Manager of the Royal Regina Golf Club.
“There’s no doubt summer took its time to get here. The course was just waiting to pop and once July has hit and this heat hit, we are in fantastic shape,” he said.
“Everything is lush, everything is extremely green, so the conditions are really, really good right now and we are excited that summer has arrived.”
Out on the fairway right now, Pollock says remote-controlled carts have become the new big thing.
“Their cart kind of drives on its own, you can walk the course and your bag essentially follows you around,” he said.
“It can be a funny thing when you don’t see a person, but you just see a cart going down the middle of the fairway.”
The Royal Regina Golf Club is also turning 125 this year. Pollock says the big celebration is planned for the August long weekend.
“We have invited other royal representatives from other clubs across the country, welcoming back former members and guests, and we are really looking forward to an exciting weekend of golf, socializing, entertainment, and just a lot of fun.”
Ryan Pollock was speaking on the Greg Morgan Morning Show on Thursday.
