A 17-year-old appeared in court in Regina on Monday to face a number of firearms charges after an early morning incident in the city.
Regina Police Service (RPS) said in a news release that around 2 a.m. officers were called to the area of 7th Avenue and Montreal Street after receiving a report of a firearms incident.
Police said they were told a taxi had picked up a man and woman, who were then arguing on the way to their destination.
As a result, the taxi driver pulled over and asked both passengers to get out of the vehicle. Once the man left, police said he pointed a firearm at the driver.
Both suspects were arrested without incident near 4th Avenue and Argyle Street.
The 17-year-old male youth, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared incourt in Regina on Monday facing weapons charges that include carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a prohibited restricted weapon.
He was also charged with failing to comply with a release order, two counts of failing to comply with sentencing and two counts of possession of a firearm while forbidden.
