A police officer in Regina needed medical treatment on Thursday after he was hit with a baseball bat during an arrest.
Regina Police Service (RPS) said in a news release on Aug. 2 that officers were called around 4:40 p.m. to a residence in the 500 block of Hamilton Street after receiving a report about a weapon.
When police arrived they said they found the suspect had barricaded himself inside, and when officers went in to arrest him he swung a baseball bat, hitting one of the officers. No details were provided on the officer’s condition.
A 23-year-old man is facing charges including assault and aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and mischief.
He was scheduled to make his first appearance in court on Tuesday.
