Saskatchewan athletes did their province proud at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Here’s how our athletes fared:

Sydney Carroll
Event: Artistic swimming team (alternate)
Result: Sixth
At the Games with her mother, Saskatoon diving coach Mary Carroll, 21-year-old Sydney was named as an alternate for the artistic swimming team. The team, performing to their Super Bowl LVI halftime show mix, finished behind China (gold), United States (silver) and Spain (bronze).

Paige Crozon
Event: 3×3 basketball
Result: Fourth
Humboldt’s Crozon was part of Canada’s first Olympic team in 3×3 basketball, a discipline that made its debut at the Tokyo Games. The team played United States in the bronze medal match, losing 16-13. Germany took the gold, while Spain was awarded the silver medal.

Margo Erlam
Event: Diving — 3m springboard
Result: 22nd
Saskatoon’s Erlam did not progress past the preliminary round. China took gold and bronze in the event, with Australia earning the silver medal.

Michelle Harrison
Event: 100-metre hurdle
Result: 19th in repechage heats
Harrison, from Saskatoon, failed to advance to the semifinals after coming down with a stomach flu. She finished eighth in her heat before placing 19th in the repechage. Gold in the event was taken by Puerto Rico, with USA taking silver and Jamaica the bronze.

Anicka Newell
Event: Pole vault
Result: 13th
Newell, who was born in Saskatoon, did not advance to the final after clearing 4.40m. Australia took the gold medal, USA the silver and Canada’s Alysha Newman took the bronze.
Carissa Norsten
Event: Rugby 7s
Result: Silver
Waldheim’s Norsten was a member of the team that put in a gutsy performance, losing to New Zealand 19-12 in the final match of the tournament. The United States took the bronze.

Kenzie Priddell
Event: Artistic swimming team
Result: Sixth
Regina’s Pridell was part of the team which, performing to their Super Bowl LVI halftime show mix, finished sixth behind China (gold), United States (silver) and Spain (bronze).

Savannah Sutherland
Event: 400m hurdles
Results: Seventh
With a time of 53.88 seconds, Borden’s Sutherland was impressive in her Olympic debut. USA took gold and silver and Netherlands the bronze in the event.

Blake Tierney
Event: 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke,
Results: Eighth (100m backstroke), Seventh (200m backstroke)
Saskatoon swimmer Tierney went into the Games as the Canadian record holder in the 200m event. He was also a member of Canada’s men’s 4x100m medley relay team, which finished fifth.

Rylan Wiens
Event: Diving — platform 10m, synchronized platform 10m.
Results: Seventh (10m platform), Bronze (synchronized 10m)
Wiens won a bronze medal with Nathan Zsombor-Murray in the men’s synchronized 10-metre platform diving event, where China took the gold medal and Great Britain was awarded silver. China also took the gold medal in the 10m platform dive, with the silver going to Japan and the bronze to Great Britain.
