A crash that closed a stretch of highway south of Indian Head left an 80-year-old woman dead and another person injured.
According to the RCMP, the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 56 just before 1 p.m. on Thursday. Police said an SUV and a semi collided.

“A passenger in the SUV was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. She has been identified as an 80-year-old female from Vernon, B.C.,” the RCMP said in a statement. “Her family has been notified.”
The semi driver was hospitalized by STARS helicopter, with what police described as serious injuries.
Police said the westbound lanes of Highway 1 were closed during the investigation, but the route has reopened.
“Indian Head RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist,” the Mounties said in a statement.
