A Regina teen is facing charges after allegedly smashing a counter with a hatchet during a robbery last month.
According to police, officers were called to a business in the 4200 block of Albert Street on July 5 for a reported robbery.

“Initial information indicated that a male youth had entered the business wearing a mask, demanded money, and smashed the counter with a hatchet before fleeing,” the Regina Police Service explained in a statement.
Police said officers weren’t able to identify the perpetrator at the time, but got a report on July 16 saying the same teen had damaged property at a home on Retallack Street in the city’s Parliament Place neighbourhood.
After investigating the second case, police said they were able to identify the alleged perpetrator, who was arrested “without incident” on Wednesday. The teen is now facing charges of robbery, wearing a disguise with intent, and mischief under $5,000.
The alleged robber cannot be named due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
