A man, aged 60, and a woman, 50, are facing a number of charges after a drug trafficking investigation in Regina.
Regina Police Service (RPS) said in a news release on Friday that the drug unit also seized “a significant quantity” of illicit drugs and contraband tobacco, with a value of around $900,000.
RPS said the pair charged were arrested without incident at a traffic stop on Highway 1 west of Pense on Sept. 12. A search of the vehicle found around 6.3 kg of a substance believed to be fentanyl, around 4 kg of a substance believed to be methamphetamine and $1,355 in cash.
The same day, RPS said a search of a home in the 2000 block of Argyle Street found over 1500 cartons of contraband cigarettes, about 1.2 kg of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, 224 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, $2,300 in cash, and five firearms and ammunition, including one firearm not stored properly.
Both people arrested are facing charges of possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine for trafficking.
The man arrested is also facing charges for trafficking in contraband tobacco, careless storage of a firearm and possession of cocaine for trafficking.
Both appeared in court on Sept. 13.
