Two rail crossings in the southeastern Saskatchewan town of Midale were closed for several hours on Saturday after a train hit a person.
Saskatchewan RCMP said in an update sent around 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 14 that Weyburn/Fillmore RCMP closed the crossings at Highway 606 and Highway 702 for an investigation of a collision.
Police said at the time that there is no risk to the public but motorists would encounter detours. RCMP advised around 9:30 a.m. that the crossings were open again.
Canadian Pacific Kansas City railway company spokesperson Terry Cunha said in a statement that a train “made contact with a person” near the intersection of Highway 606 and Railway Ave in Midale and the incident was under investigation.
No further information was provided about the incident or the condition, age or sex of the person who was hit.
