A strip mall located in the same lot as the Empire Hotel was demolished on Saturday.
The building at 1718 McIntyre Street, was seen being ripped apart piece by piece by a bobcat, leaving a dusty pile of rubble.
According to building permit reports available from the City of Regina, Empire Hotel Ltd. received approval for the demolition of a “530-Hotel, hotel/motel, motor hotel” on Sept. 6. The cost listed for the commercially used property was $100,000.00.
