We are hearing from Regina’s top cop after a recent incident where a woman allegedly stole a police cruiser and crashed it.
“It’s going to be some lessons learned,” said Regina Police Chief Farook Sheikh.
That is after a situation last week where a woman allegedly jumped out of the back seat of a police cruiser, got into the driver’s seat, took off, and crashed a police cruiser.

Sheikh said they are investigating the incident to prevent a similar situation from happening again.
“We will review what happened and see if there is any learning for the officer if there are any equipment issue problems,” said Sheikh.
Sheikh also explained they will be taking an educational approach to the situation.
“Whenever there is an instance where something doesn’t go quite right, we evaluate, review, and some training and learning as a result of it,” said Sheikh.
980 CJME asked Sheikh if there was anything the officer should have done differently.
“I haven’t gotten into the details of the investigation, so I wouldn’t be able to comment on that,” he said.
“But again — like I said — we’re reviewing that process what happened, and obviously we’ll be able to deal with that accordingly.”
