A 22-year-old woman from Grande Prairie, Alta. was killed in a crash with a semi on Wednesday, and a Saskatchewan man is now facing criminal charges in connection with her death.
According to the RCMP, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 1, about two kilometres east of Wapella.

“Investigation determined a semi and truck collided. The passenger in the truck was declared deceased by EMS at the scene,” the RCMP explained in a statement.
The truck driver was taken to hospital by paramedics, RCMP added, while the semi driver didn’t report any injuries.
According to the RCMP, 21-year-old Zachory Taylor, a resident of Codette, Sask., is now charged with impaired driving causing death, driving while prohibited, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Taylor was also arrested on outstanding warrants from Nipawin and Weyburn, the Mounties added, and he’s expected to appear in court in Yorkton on Monday.
The crash remains under investigation by the Moosomin RCMP, with the help of an RCMP collision reconstruction expert.
