The Ituna Community Arena Co-operative has been fined $16,800 for discarding or allowing to be discarded waste other than what is permitted per the Environmental Management and Protection Act.

The fine was also for operating a waste disposal ground and engaging in industrial activity without a permit.
Barry Sawchuk, Jack Shymko, Leonard Kuschak and Alexander Schabel were also initially charged in the investigation. The charges against Shymko and Kuschak were stayed, while Sawchuk was fined $7,100 and Schabel was fined $9,003.
According to court records, the incident happened between April 1, 2022 and Nov. 30 2022.
The fines were handed down in Fort Qu’Appelle Provincial Court on Oct. 24.
