Saskatchewan’s Serious Incident Response Team is shedding more light on a fatal rollover in Moose Jaw earlier this month.
According to a release from the police oversight agency, officers with the Moose Jaw Police Service responded to a call of a silver Honda driving erratically and chasing after the caller’s vehicle just before midnight on November 7.
The caller said there was a physical altercation before the chase.
According to the report, a second call later came to police about the Honda.
The Serious Incident Response Team said police saw the Honda travelling at a high rate of speed on Main Street at around 11:47 p.m., and a marked police vehicle turned to follow the vehicle. Roughly a minute later, police reported that the Honda had crashed on Main Street, resulting in the death of a 31-year-old man.
“The other occupants of the vehicle, the driver and a second passenger, were conveyed to hospital for assessment and treatment,” the oversight agency noted.
Police have charged a 26-year-old man with Impaired Driving Causing Death, Dangerous Operation of a Motor
Vehicle Causing Death, and Flight from Police.
