Residents of White City will see a 1.0 per cent mill rate increase and $100 base tax adjustment for an overall tax revenue increase of 4 per cent after the 2025 annual budget was adopted on Feb. 3.
In a news release on Feb. 7, the city said the budget would result in an average annual increase of $9.41 to $10.36 per month per household and the council and administration “aim to maintain current services while supporting the development and maintenance of new and existing infrastructure.”

Mayor Mitch Simpson said in the release the budget added new capital projects like revitalization of the Emerald Ridge Elementary School sports field in a joint initiative with the RM of Edenwold.
The budget also allows for development and enhancement of eight major town events in 2025, ongoing support for the Youth Advisory Committee, installation of a washroom facility at the town’s splash park, accessible pathways, refurbishment of the outdoor rink, and ongoing training for volunteer firefighters.
The wastewater infrastructure charge will also increase from $33.58 to $43 per month per household related to the costs of the Wastewater Management Authority’s Wastewater Expansion Project.
The increase will cover 52.2 per cent of the debt financing costs of the project.
“We are paying close attention to the project and exploring all options available to us to reduce both water rates and the infrastructure fee,” Simpson said.
The budget includes operating revenues of $9.1 million, operating expenditures of $8.8 million and $2.1 million for capital expenditures.
The release said a complete budget document will be publicly available on the town’s website by the end of February.
