Regina Police have laid charges in the Queen City’s first murder of 2025.
39-year-old Dennis Hotomaine has been charged with first-degree murder.
This comes after police were called to the 1500 block of 12th Avenue — near Carmichael Outreach — after 8 p.m. on Feb. 18 for reports of an injured man.
When police arrived, the 46-year-old man was dead.

Officers quickly secured the area and requested additional help from The Regina Police Services Major Crimes Unit, the Regina Police Service Forensic Identification Unit and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
Carmichael Outreach “heartbroken”
In an email from Carmichael Outreach’s development coordinator, Chrysta Garner, the organization is saddened by the incident.
“This heartbreaking event has left us all in shock and mourning, and our hearts go out to everyone affected, especially the grieving family,” she said. “We stand with them in this difficult time, offering our deepest condolences and unwavering support.”
Carmichael is a non-profit organization. It assists people living in homelessness and poverty.
The safety of staff, volunteers and those who use the service is a top priority for the organization.
“This incident has prompted us to evaluate our safety protocols further and continue to implement measures that ensure the protection of everyone within our care,” she said. “We take this responsibility seriously, and our commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment remains unwavering.”
Carmichael said it will continue to work closely with community partners and police to understand the full scope of the situation.
