Three people have been charged after a man who picked up a hitch-hiker on Saturday had his truck stolen, resulting in a high-speed chase that at one point saw the truck being driven on its rims.
Prince Albert RCMP said in a news release on March 4 they were told about an injured man walking in the area of Hazelwood Road and Highway 302 East around 10 kilometres from Prince Albert around 2:10 p.m. on March 1.

When they found him, they said they discovered he was a driver who had picked up a hitch-hiker, who then assaulted him and stole the truck after he got out. Police said the driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the two men were not known to each other.
No assault charges were laid.
Police said patrols then saw the stolen truck travelling south on Highway 2 towards Prince Albert, with “multiple people” inside. They attempted a traffic stop, but the truck drove off at high speed. Officers then followed the truck to Prince Albert but lost sight of it.
Later that day, RCMP said they saw a truck driving east on Highway 302 West, and set up a tire deflation device. The truck ran over it and all four tires went flat, but it continued to be driven. Police said they were later able to stop it in Prince Albert with the help of Prince Albert police, where three people were arrested.
Two men from Île-à-la-Crosse, aged 34 and 36, and a 19-year-old woman from Black Lake appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on March 3 on charges of possession of property obtained by crime. The 36-year-old was also charged with fleeing from police.
