A Saskatchewan man is facing new charges in connection with a crash that left a young girl dead and three other people injured last summer.
According to the RCMP, the crash happened on Key First Nation in southern Saskatchewan on August 24, 2024 when a vehicle collided with a group of four pedestrians.

“A child, who is a female under the age of 12, was declared deceased by EMS at the scene,” the Mounties said in a statement.
“Two other children, both females under the age of 12, were transported to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature. An adult male reported non-life threatening injuries to police.”
Kenward Strongquill, a 62-year-old resident of the Keeseekoose First Nation, was quickly arrested in connection with the crash. Initially, he was charged with failing to stop after an accident resulting in death, impaired driving, and three counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm.
The RCMP said that after a lengthy investigation, the charges against Strongquill were stayed and replaced with new charges. He’s now accused of manslaughter, dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, and three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
Police said Strongquill has been held in custody since his initial arrest in 2024, and made a court appearance in Yorkton on Monday to answer the new charges.
