A man from the Pelican Lake First Nation is facing a manslaughter charge after the death of a 29-year-old man on Wednesday.
According to the RCMP, officers from the Spiritwood detachment got a report about an injured man on a pathway on the First Nation at around 2 a.m. When they arrived, they found 29-year-old Kirk Thomas, a resident of the First Nation, who was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

“The circumstances were suspicious and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation,” the Mounties said in a statement.
“As a result of continued investigation, an adult male suspect was arrested at a residence on Pelican Lake First Nation later in the day.”
Police said the 32-year-old man is now facing a manslaughter charge, and was scheduled to appear in a North Battleford courtroom on Thursday.
Pelican Lake First Nation is located about 170 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon.
