The City of Regina launched a new emergency alert system on Thursday in an effort to help residents stay informed about threats to their health, safety and property.
The city says the notifynow mass notification system will compliment the provincial SaskAlert system by sending local updates. Residents can sign up at no cost through the city’s website in order to receive notifications by phone, text or email.

“Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents is our top priority,” Mayor Chad Bachynski said in a statement.
“Launching the notifynow public alerting system will empower our community to stay informed and take necessary precautions when it matters most. I encourage everyone to register for this important tool online.”
The city said the alert system will keep residents informed about extreme weather, evacuations, shelter-in-place orders, major fires, service disruptions, boil water advisories and more, with notifications coming in real time to help residents keep themselves and their property safe.
The same system is already in use in Saskatoon.
