Hunters in Saskatchewan are counting down the days until the province’s big game draw opens.
Starting on Thursday, hunters can apply for the chance to hunt mule deer, elk, moose and pronghorns, and the application period closes at 4 p.m. on May 29, with no exceptions or extensions offered. Applications must be submitted online through Saskatchewan’s Hunting, Angling and Trapping Licence system.

The draw results for most species will be posted in June, while the results of the pronghorn draw will come the following month.
“The Big Game Draw is your opportunity to experience Saskatchewan’s world-class hunting firsthand,” Travis Keisig, Saskatchewan’s environment minister, said in a statement.
“We want every hunter to have a fair chance at success and that starts with applying early and being prepared.”
Licences for those who are successful in the draw will be available to purchase starting on August 1 through the same online system.
“For questions about hunting in Saskatchewan, reach out to the Ministry of Environment’s Inquiry Centre at 1-800-567-4224 or email centre.inquiry@gov.sk.ca,” the ministry added.
