Regina’s taxi bylaw and upgrades to the Brandt Centre will be two topics up for debate at Monday’s council meeting.
Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) is asking the city to provide some funding for upgrades to the Brandt Centre.
These upgrades are to ensure the arena meets the requirements needed to host the 2018 Memorial Cup. The city is being asked for more than $1.3 million for upgrades.
The current taxi bylaw is also being looked at.
Changes would include how taxi licenses are issued and safety upgrades for the vehicles, including cameras with outward facing lenses, sound enabled and shields that can be installed at vehicle owner’s discretion.
There could also be an additional charge on the way, with a charge of up to $100 being imposed on a customer who vomits or releases any other bodily fluid in a cab.
Other topics being discussed will be the naming of a few city parks and looking at naming a property at 3248 Albert St. a municipal heritage property.
