If you hear Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” at the Queen City Ex it can only mean one thing — Doo Doo Doodles the Clown is making his way down the midway.
This is only the second year the international clown has attended the Regina exhibition.
“I’ve just been having a great time. I’ve been able to do three shows a day, strolling in between, it’s unbelievable,” Doo Doo said.
He said he had a great time at last year’s exhibition.
“The families were amazing, the people were amazing.”
For over 25 years, Doo Doo has been entertaining audiences with comedy, magic and balloon animals. He said he goes through about 1,500 balloons a day, making animals and hats.
“I make hats that go all the way to the moon, I’m always challenged to make big hats, I love big hats,” he said.
Not only do kids recognize Doo Doo in his bright outfit, but adults also recognize the clown for his role in the Adam Sandler movie, Billy Madison. He said he’s done a lot of acting and he’s really humbled by it because people are always excited to meet him.
“It’s really funny, the kids come up and they’re like ‘hey Doo Doo the Clown, how are you?’ It’s funny because the adults come up and go, ‘can I get a picture, you’re the clown in Billy Madison,’ so it’s been pretty cool,” he said.
He encourages everyone to come up and say hello to him as he wanders around the midway.
“[This] is a great exhibition because it has everything. I walked around [Thursday] and I must have seen stages everywhere, people jumping from high-dives and food like I’ve never seen, so I’m loving it here,” he said.
Interacting with the kids and their families is something Doo Doo loves to do. He said he constantly as kids asking him to do tricks or make balloons.
“How do I say no?”
When it comes to his show, Doo Doo does a lot of comedy, a lot of magic and a lot of dancing.
“Believe it or not, I can dance. My mom gave me money for music lessons and instead I went to restaurants, but I can dance. I love to see families have a good time, that’s what an exhibition is all about,” he said.
He has three shows daily at 12:45 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Family Fun Zone inside Evraz Place.
Clown Sightings
While talking clowns, Doo Doo spoke briefly about the clown scare in October of last year. He said he went on stations all over the world to talk about it.
“These aren’t clowns, these are people dressed up. I said [at the time] the second Halloween is done it’ll be over, and it was. We’re out just trying to do our job and making people happy, and just have a great experience at the Queen City Ex,” he said.
