Who predicted that?
The Saskatchewan Roughriders smoked B.C. 41-8 on Sunday, just eight days after the Lions gutted them 30-15. Playing behind a rebuilt offensive line, quarterback Kevin Glenn tossed three touchdown passes. The blitzing defence pressured B.C.’s quarterbacks and helped defensive back Ed Gainey set a Riders record with four interceptions, including one that he returned for a touchdown.
After seeing the Riders stumble offensively and defensively in Vancouver, only diehard fans would have believed their team would rebound against a team that looked so vastly superior in their first meeting.
But for some reason, all three of my Green Zone cohorts during our pregame show picked the Roughriders to upset the Lions. Woodsy, Jamie and Belton had some wild rationale: at home the Riders are a good team, sometimes they surprise everybody and, Jamie Nye said, “Just cuz!”
I picked the Lions.
They were right. I was wrong.
But nobody thought it was going to be so lopsided. Not even close.
