Severe thunderstorm watch for southeast Sask.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for a portion of the southeast corner of Saskatchewan.

The watch includes areas around Estevan, Weyburn, Moosomin, Grenfell, Kipling, Wawota, and the R.M. of Brock, including Arcola and Kisbey.

A watch means conditions are favourable for the development of a severe thunderstorm which could produce strong winds, large hail and heavy rain.

The watch is due to a low pressure system moving into the province from northwest North Dakota.

Large hail can cause property damage and injuries and strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles

When any thunderstorm develops, there’s a great chance for intense lightning. Environment Canada reminds residents to stay indoors when a thunderstorm hits.
