It’s been a good week for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
And they didn’t even play a CFL game! During their second bye of the season, the Riders acquired quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. and defensive end Mike McAdoo in two separate trades. Plus they gained ground in the West standings because the B.C. Lions lost their game Saturday against the Calgary Stampeders.
Saskatchewan is now four points behind fourth-place B.C. Saskatchewan has played two fewer games than B.C. and won their season series, so Saskatchewan would win any potential tiebreakers in the standings. It also looks like things are getting a little tumultuous in B.C., where head coach Wally Buono’s team is torn between quarterbacks Jonathon Jennings and Travis Lulay.
Meanwhile, the Roughriders spent an extended break enjoying their last victory against the Lions. They return to action Friday against the Edmonton Eskimos, who suffered their first loss of the season Friday against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. It all looks good for the Riders, unless you remember how badly they performed after their last bye.
