A 48-year-old man was found dead at the Regina Correctional Centre Wednesday morning, according to the Ministry of Justice.
Spokesman, Drew Wilby said the man was found unresponsive in his cell and was pronounced dead around 9 a.m.
“We’re having trouble notifying next-of-kin,” said Wilby. “So I can not release the name at this time.”
The man had a jail cell to himself and was in on remand. Wilby said the man was in jail for “a couple of months” and was facing charges in relation to weapons and drugs.
He added it’s too early to say the cause of death.
This is the second deceased inmate in a #Sask jail this year. Earlier a person at P.A. died in jail from natural causes.

The province said police are investigating, while the ministry conducts an internal investigation. There will also be a review by the provincial coroner’s office.
One thing Wilby added was that they’ll be looking into an incident at the courthouse on Tuesday along with the man’s death.
“There’s no indication to suggest that (what took place at the courthouse) is related to what happened this morning … we’ve issued terms of reference this morning to our internal investigators to look at the two incidents together to see if there’s any relationship between the two of them and to see what conclusions they can (come to),” he said.
He added he can confirm the 48-year-old was not at the courthouse on Tuesday.
