A condominium fire in Regina’s north end was put out quickly as fire crews were only a couple blocks away.
“(The fire station is) over on Rink Avenue just off of McCarthy Boulevard, so we’re fairly close,” said assistant fire chief Dwaine Davidson, who was in command at the Rochdale Place Condominium. “They did a really good job of getting here quickly, setting up quickly and knocking it down to get it under control fairly fast.”
Condo owners/renters tell me fire crews were here in less than 5 mins. Many say they're lucky for that #yqr pic.twitter.com/EfMCfwQ0bc

Davidson said the fire started just before 3 p.m. on Monday. He added there were no injuries.
“We had a fire start on the balcony on the main floor and it extended up on the outside of the building to the second floor and exterior of the building,” he said.
Smoke could be seen still trying to escape out of the windows as fire fighters assessed the damage from the inside. Davidson said there is damage however it’s not a complete loss for the home owners or landlords, with most of the damage on the first and second floors, as well as the building’s exterior. He added there wasn’t as much damage on the third floor.

Davidson said he’s unsure of how much money the damage will cost as an investigation will determine that along with what started it.
