It was a crashing start to the day for a couple of Regina families Tuesday morning.
Mac Neja was at his home on the corner of Broadway Avenue and Abbot Road, getting his kids ready for daycare, when he thought he heard a noise coming from his roof.
When he went outside to investigate, he saw a woman had crashed a minivan into the basement window.
“The building was shaking. Then I saw a lady here and the car was inside the window,” said Neja, pointing to the shards of glass covering the lawn and sidewalk.
He added that he believes the tenants living downstairs – a mother and daughter – were in their kitchen at the time. When they came out of their basement suite, Neja said they were scratched up from the broken glass and one of them had blood coming from their ear.
After calling 911, he ran inside and grabbed the family a blanket before they were taken to hospital for stitches.
“(The mother) was shocked, just walking around — she couldn’t find even a blanket for her kid,” he said.
The cost of the damage is still undetermined.
