Graham Tuer was one of those guys who was always happy to see you. And vice versa.
A long-time scout, volunteer and organizer, Graham probably watched a game in every hockey rink in Saskatchewan before he died Tuesday at the age of 87. A recent inductee into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame and Regina Sports Hall of Fame, Graham was always reluctant to reveal his age, so the fact that these stories about him mention his age — that really would have ticked him off.
Not many things upset Graham. He was one of the most positive, energetic people in the hockey world. He liked meeting people, which likely made him into a better hockey scout because he treated every player like a person, someone important. In turn, the players responded with their best efforts.
Graham inspired people. Like all scouts, he sat in the upper corners of the rinks to get the best view of the game. People would happily climb up to visit with him, which also gave Graham a great view on life.
