How to tell if a Canadian Red Cross canvasser is legitimate

Because its response to the Saskatchewan wildfires is being paid for by the Saskatchewan government, donations are not being collected by the Canadian Red Cross for evacuees.

The Regina Police Service says the Red Cross is canvassing in Regina, Saskatoon and North Battleford so they are prepared for future disasters.

Official canvassers for the Canadian Red Cross are out knocking on doors wearing photo I.D. badges and Canadian Red Cross vests or uniforms, says the Regina Police Service.

They do not ask for cash. Instead, the Regina Police Service says they will encourage you to visit their website, provide contact information so you can follow-up or provide information to those interested in becoming a monthly donor.

The dates for this canvassing were scheduled earlier for the year.
