The Riders will be without the services of their top receiver on Friday night in Vancouver.
Ryan Smith was ruled out of the game against the Lions with an undisclosed injury.
“It’s one of those things, (he) had a very good but made it out of the game banged up. We’ll see how it is going forward,” said head coach Corey Chamblin.
The belief among many is that Smith may have suffered a concussion in the game – likely after he jumped for a spectacular catch in the fourth quarter.
Chamblin wouldn’t confirm if that was the case or not.
“That’s one of the things we always have to look at. I’m sure everyone saw that,” he said.
“We’ll also go through a lot of other things. I don’t go through it but those guys always make sure we go through those things when guys look like woozy.”
Just who will replace Smith in starting lineup at this point is unclear.
Chamblin was asked if perhaps Taj Smith could return to the starting group of receivers.
“I’d be lying to you if told you what the depth chart would be right now. (Thursday) we’ll have a greater feel. One or two guys did go in today.”
Smith currently leads the Riders and the CFL in receiving yards with 251. He’s also tied for the league lead in touchdowns with two.
Smith was named one of the CFL’s Top Performers of the week for his 174 yards and a touchdown against Toronto.
The Riders will release their depth chart for Friday’s game on Thursday.
