The $1.33M rent reduction comes from what the club owed during seasons impacted by the pandemic.
The City of Regina is looking to turn trash into treasure this winter.
Garbage pickup for residents will be moving to a biweekly schedule during the winter months.
“We have a report going to committee this week and to council at the end of the month to confirm that, it would be starting in November and go into spring of next year,” Mayor Michael Fougere told the 980 CJME Morning Show Tuesday.
The change comes as a result of the city cutting costs following the removal of the grants-in-lieu program from the provincial budget released in March.
Moving to a biweekly schedule is expected to save about $132,000 in fuel and labour savings.
While the move was done to make up for the budget shortfall, Fougere said they could look at doing this in winters to come.
“We’re going to look at how it went for sure, to see how people react to it and if it’s a good proposal and works well, we will likely consider to use that into the future.”
Fougere said council is putting together their budget for 2018 and no more changes are expected to happen from the current year’s budget.
