A 14-year-old boy has been charged after a bear spray incident at a northwest Regina McDonald’s Saturday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the call at the McDonald’s in the 6200 block of Rochdale Boulevard around 11:14 a.m., after reports of fumes in the air and people coughing.
Before the fumes were detected, three teens reportedly fled the fast food restaurant. They were tracked down a short time later with bear spray.
According to police, further investigation led them to discover that the bear spray was released in the washroom, before spreading to the rest of the building.
Police said none of the around 30 people inside the McDonald’s at the time were injured.
The 14-year-old boy, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, committing mischief under $5,000 and administering a noxious thing.
He will appear in court Oct. 30.
