This Sunday’s game is like the Riders second midterm exam when they play the Calgary Stampeders.
The Riders’ schedule worked out well to assess where they stand against the class of the CFL. They play the Stampeders in each third of their season.
The first midterm didn’t go very well in a 27-10 loss to the Stamps, as they started terribly and slightly improved in the second half.
Now we see the Roughriders ready to make a statement that they belong with Calgary and Winnipeg as the elite in the CFL.
A win would definitely do that, but even staying in there with the Stampeders would show the rest of the league that the Riders are likely in the top three in the CFL.
We look forward to the last exam in week 18 when they travel to Calgary again. A home win would be impressive, but going into McMahon and getting a win would make an even bigger statement.
But one test at a time. The Riders just need to make sure they’re much better prepared at the start of the test this Sunday.
