The lights will be bright as performers take the stage Thursday to kick off a new season at Regina’s Globe Theatre.
The 2017-18 season opens with a play called Bittergirl — a comedy about getting over getting dumped. It involves three women who believe the men they are dating are their soulmates, but find out that’s not the case.
Director Greg Ochitwa said the script was solid, but it wasn’t the only thing that inspired him to do the play.
“As much as I love theatre, I love people more and I love connections between people and there was definitely something in that friendship element between the three ladies in the play that really pulled me towards the script,” Ochitwa told the 980 CJME Morning Show Thursday.
“We’ve had a couple audiences in the past few nights for preview shows and it’s landing pretty well with everyone who’s coming in.”
The play also features many songs from the 70s and 80s including I Will Survive and Where Did Our Love Go?
“It’s like a crazy list of highlight reel songs,” Ochitwa said.
The show runs Sept. 28 until Oct. 15.
