Saskatchewan Party leadership hopeful Alanna Koch released a mandate letter on Thursday promising her commitment to an open and accountable government.
She said the government should be more accessible and promised increased public access to senior government by, but not limited to, regional caucus and cabinet meetings.
“What I’ve heard from traveling around the province in the 30-plus days on the campaign trail, is that (people) just want to understand better the direction of the government,” said Koch.
She added that the balanced budget plan put out by the current government under Brad Wall was the right approach. Koch said she’s committed to balancing the books within the four year plan.
Beaudry-Mellor visits northern Saskatchewan
Another hopeful for the top spot in the Sask. Party, Tina Beaudry-Mellor, travelled to northern Saskatchewan this past week.
Beaudry-Mellor has a plan to provide northern Saskatchewan communities with resources to help eliminate poverty, low graduation rates and birth rates that are, what she said, twice the rest of the province.
Thank you Mayor @vincenat2013 & the leadership in Pinehouse, SK for spending time w/me today, sharing thoughts & ideas. More soon. #skpoli pic.twitter.com/6JSaNOGTg1

She said the plan would see collaboration with leaders and it would start with communities who demonstrate a degree of readiness.
“(I) most recently returned (from) Pinehouse,” Beaudry-Mellor said. “I am inspired by the forward leading leadership there and in similar communities. We cannot take on the entire north with a one-size-fits-all approach but we can work strategically and collaboratively with communities to achieve results where we have willing partners.”
The new leader will be selected by Sask. Party members on Jan. 27, 2018.
