While scary costumes and spooky decorations might send chills down the spines of trick-or-treaters on Halloween night, the weather isn’t expected to be a thing of nightmares.
“When you look back over the Halloweens of the past, my gosh, I’ve seen one where there was 11 centimetres of snow on the ground and the temperature was -23 C,” Environment Canada Meteorologist David Phillips told the 980 CJME Morning Show.
One potentially scary sight is the call for snow in the forecast overnight.
Phillips said a weather system is moving southeast across the province from Alberta. He said there is the possibility of some flurries in Regina but not until later in the evening.
“I think kids will be home sorting, counting their goodies and that’s when maybe the snow may come.”
He said the ground is still warm, so the snow will likely melt away.
As for the temperature, he expects it to be around the freezing mark but not much cooler than that.
“I think kids will be able to wear their costumes with something warm underneath.”
Phillips said the weather for November looks like it will be colder than normal, but that shouldn’t set the pattern for the entire winter.
