The Calgary Stampeders are feeling a bit disrespected and deservedly so.
A three-game losing streak going into the playoffs and up against a team as hot as the Edmonton Eskimos, has some feeling the Eskimos are not only the favourite, but the heavy favourite to beat Calgary.
But I think we’re forgetting something. The Stampeder defence is the best defence in the Canadian Football League and has been from start until finish this year.
The defence will be able to handle Mike Reilly much better than the Winnipeg Blue Bombers did. And don’t think for a second you’ll see the type of defensive secondary lapses you saw last week from the Bombers either.
Yes, Bo Levi Mitchell has not been playing at his usual elite level but he still did enough to get the Stamps to the top of the best division in the league yet again.
This type of disrespect is new to the Stamps, and could be a dangerous ingredient for the other three teams left.
Because I don’t know if we’ve ever seen them play with a chip on their shoulder.
