The Green Zone has confirmed that the Saskatchewan Roughriders have fired general manager Brendan Taman and head coach Corey Chamblin.
The news first broke on social media Monday night, one day after the Riders’ ninth loss of the 2015 season, 35-13 to the Ottawa Redblacks.
Chamblin’s decisions during the game were heavily criticized by Rider Nation, particularly the decision to pull quarterback Brett Smith from the game after throwing an interception in the end zone.
A release from the team confirms special teams coordinator Bob Dyce will take over as the interim head coach. Assistant general manager Jeremy O’Day takes over as interim general manager.
“We are not meeting our expectations or our standards on the field and these changes were necessary to move us forward,” stated Riders President and CEO Craig Reynolds in the release.
The Roughriders will speak to the media about the decision Tuesday.
