The weather in Saskatchewan will be like being on a rollercoaster over the next few days.
People are getting a reprieve from the bitter cold for the rest of the week but there seems to be a trade-off in the forecast.
Freezing rain is expected in Moose Jaw and south-central Saskatchewan Wednesday followed by fog in the evening.
On Wednesday morning the Highway Hotline was showing icy, slippery conditions and blowing snow stretching from Swift Current through Moose Jaw, Regina and east to the Manitoba border.
Environment Canada Meteorologist David Baggaley said the province has had a cool air mass over it for the past few days.
“There’s a push of warm air coming across the most southern part of Saskatchewan,” Baggaley said.
That will likely send temperatures up above the freezing mark, getting as warm as 9 C on Thursday.
Baggaley warns people shouldn’t get used to the warmer temperatures.
Warm temperatures are supposed to hold out above freezing until next Tuesday, but it will swing back into the cold after that.
“We’re looking at a cold front to pass through on fire and that will bring it back down to reality, unfortunately,” Baggaley said.
